Viktor Yanukovych was born in the town of Yenakiyevo, Donetsk Region, on July 9,1950, in the family of a worker, Ukrainian.

Education - higher, graduated from the Donetsk PolytechnicInstitute as Mechanical Engineer, the Ukrainian Academy of ForeignTrade as Master of International Law.

In 1969 worked as a gas worker at the Yenakiyevo Metallurgical Works, worked as a fitter, mechanic at an automobile factory.

For over 20 years held top executive offices: director generalof major production firms such as "DonbasTransRemont","UkrVuhlePromTrans", the Donetsk Region Motor Transport TerritorialProduction Association.

In 1996 V.F.Yanukovych was appointed Deputy Head and in September - First Deputy Head of Donetsk Regional State Administration.

In 1997 - 2002 he held office of the Head of Donetsk RegionalState Administration, was a deputy of the Donetsk Regional Council.

In 1999 - 2001 he combined the above-mentioned jobs with the duties of the Chairman of the Donetsk Regional Council.

In 2002 he was appointed Prime Minister of Ukraine.
