Yesterday the deputies of the regional council supported the protest of the public prosecutor and cancelled the decision of December session on Eugeny Kushnarev's election the head of the regional council.Two thirds of votes were given for this decision. The session lasted for 9 hours and a half as the issue was rather challenging. Eugeny Kushnarev at the moment of the decision making was not there, he left sessional hall about four o'clock in the afternoon together with Alexey Kolesnikom who felt badly unexpectedly enough. The longest session in the history of the regional council lasted till the half past eight in the evening.

The session started at 10 a.m. During the session there were two piquets in front of the building - one in support of Kushnarev and another for his resignation. Scandal at session started after some deputies refused to reject the protest of the public prosecutor - such offer was brought by presidium. After long skirmish Kushnarevand presiding session left the room. Deputies decided to continue session without him, to consider the project of of the public prosecutor and to vote for it.

Only by 7 p.m. deputies found the most acceptable, in legal terms, way of the problem decision. They dismissed the assistant of the head of the regional council Alexey Kolesnik and selected Oleg Shapovalov instead - the rules demand, that session was closed either by the head of regional council, or by his assistant. And then they supported the protest of the public prosecutor with 60 votes for. In other words they recognized Kushnarev's election for the post of the head of regional council illegal. New head will be elected at the next session already.
